

Unit Three: Romeo and juliet
Exploring stories written over four hundred years ago, on the other side of the planet, reveals a crucial aspect of shared human experience amongst the passions, loves, fury, triumph, and tragedy in this celebrated play. The complex and diverse range of literary techniques exploited in this dramatic text enable a great and valuable literary insight which supports all future literary and linguistic study.
Summative descriptor
The summative task was to write a full analytical essay in response to different thematic and stylistic prompts. The aim was to create robust thesis statements to synthesize the central argument in the essay find clear on evidence to support certain points and formulate petal structured paragraphs.




Masquerade Ball



To wrap up the unit on Romeo & Juliet, HZ11 students engaged in a Venetian-themed Masquerade Ball organised by the English staff and Arts & Social committee, complete with a mask catwalk, love letter station and performances.
