Guiding Statement  

Examining and comparing the methods poets use to express universal themes enables a greater sense of empathy and connection amongst people of different places and times.

Students have:

Explored a vast, diverse poetry collection

• Understood a broad range of literary devices & how they inform meaning

• Identified themes of poetry and establish intertextual links

• Analysed authorial intent, context and impact

• Created new poetry involving conscious use of valuable literary techniques

• Read poetry for an audience
